Each time a page on your website doesn't load, an error message will be shown to the website visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages that'll appear, but what is common for all of them is that they are generic and in all probability will have absolutely nothing in common with the layout of your site, which may be irritating for any visitor. That is the main reason why website hosting companies have introduced a feature named Custom Error Pages. For a wide variety of different errors, visitors shall see your unique content, which could be informative or amusing, depending on your personal preference, and which will match the layout of your website, so the pages won't appear as if they're not part of your website at all. You can use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Hosting
The custom error pages feature is available with every single hosting package which we offer and you shall be able to replace all generic pages with your own with no more than several clicks inside your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel. You will have to produce the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a particular domain or subdomain using the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You could do this for every Internet site hosted inside the account independently, so that each set of custom made pages will have identical design as the website it is part of. If required, you can always go back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. A different way to set customized error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you haven't done this before, you may simply copy the necessary program code from our Help article on the subject.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Incorporating your own pages for any of the 4 error types to any web site hosted through a semi-dedicated server account with us will be very basic and shall not take more than a couple of clicks. As soon as you upload the files in your account, you can navigate to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there using an intuitive interface with drop-down menus. You may select what page should appear for every error type. Your choices are a standard Apache web server page or a page from our system, and customized pages. If you choose the last option, you must type in the link to every single page in your account, then save the change. The link or the type of page which shows up in case a user encounters an error can be changed at any time. In case you are more experienced, you could use an .htaccess file to be able to set tailor-made error pages too, as an alternative to using our integrated generator software tool, and if you choose this option, the file needs to be placed in the root directory of a specific domain or subdomain.
