It's not uncommon for many users to use weak passwords simply because they are much easier to remember or to use scripts, templates and plugins which are not updated for a long time. In either of these situations, it won't be a challenge for a hacker to take control of the website and from that point on to take control of other websites which may be hosted within the same account. To avoid such a scenario, we have added an innovative security option known as JailHost. It restricts the access which a script has solely to its own folder, so if one of your websites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but won't be able to access any other content in your account, therefore the damage will be minimal. Needless to say, employing JailHost won't substitute the security measures you must always take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, still it will enable you to restrict any damage to one site only.
JailHost in Hosting
If you host your websites in a hosting account from our company, you could protect them by using the JailHost feature with just a couple of mouse clicks within your Hepsia Control Panel. The option is provided with all plans and can be activated for every folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have separate folders, so that files for different Internet sites do not get mixed up as it often happens with other Control Panels. We have not activated JailHost by default because you could use scripts which require access to folders outside the main site folder and this option may interfere with their correct functioning, but securing all the other folders is simple and easy. If a protected site gets hacked for some reason, we will be able to recover it easily as we'll have multiple daily backups of your entire account and you will even be able to search the available backups from Hepsia.
JailHost in Semi-dedicated Hosting
JailHost comes with all our semi-dedicated hosting plans and you will be able to activate it with several clicks. It is not turned on by default as we do not want to prevent some scripts that may need to access multiple folders in your account from working properly. You'll be able to enable JailHost for all other Internet sites that you have from the Hepsia Control Panel and this can be done quickly even if you do not have any previous experience. What enables us to offer JailHost is the way Hepsia maintains multiple domains - they all have individual folders that could be "locked". In contrast, other widespread Control Panels feature add-on domains and the content of the latter is kept in the primary domain folder, so if a single site is hacked, the entire account is hacked, which isn't the case with Hepsia. In the event that an Internet site is damaged despite your efforts, we shall be able to restore it the way it was very quickly since we'll store a few daily backup copies of the whole account.
